Applied Computing

A field of computing defined by the outside discipline it serves rather than by a computing technique of its own: applying computation to a scientific, artistic or other external domain. Belongs here: Bioinformatics, which applies computation to biological data, and Computer Music, which applies computation to musical composition and sound. Does not belong here: a field defined by a general computational technique with no single external domain, such as Machine Learning, filed under Computing Methodologies instead.
