DASK was the first computer in Denmark, commissioned in 1955 and designed and constructed by Regnecentralen, beginning operation in September 1957. Its name is an acronym for Dansk Aritmetisk Sekvens Kalkulator, or Danish Arithmetic Sequence Calculator, chosen to echo the naming pattern of BESK, the Swedish computer whose architecture provided DASK's initial design.
