TIFRAC was the first computer developed in India, built at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Mumbai. An initial TIFR Pilot Machine was developed in the 1950s, and development of the full machine, based on the IAS machine design, began in 1955; it was formally commissioned in 1960 and remained in use until 1965.
