LOLCODE is an esoteric programming language inspired by the informal grammar and vocabulary of lolspeak and image macros from the lolcat internet meme, created by Adam Lindsay in 2007 at Lancaster University's Infolab21 research centre. LOLCODE syntax uses phrases like HAI to begin a program and KTHXBYE to end one, and while conceived largely as a joke, it is a fully working, Turing-complete language with numerous community-built interpreters and compilers.
