Charles P. Thacker was an American computer engineer who served as chief designer of the Xerox Alto at Xerox PARC, a machine widely considered the first modern personal computer to combine a graphical user interface, a mouse and networking in a single system usable by one person at a desk. He also contributed to the early development of Ethernet networking and later led the design of Microsofts Tablet PC hardware. Thacker won the Turing Award in 2009.
