Fields in which computing is woven into everyday surroundings and worn on the body rather than confined to a desktop. It covers computing embedded invisibly in objects and spaces, and devices carried or worn that sense the person and the environment continuously. A field belongs here when the computer recedes into the context of daily life. It excludes the networks that connect such devices, which belong to Networks, and the dedicated control hardware of embedded systems.
