Procedural Language

G-code, also known as RS-274, is the common name for the most widely used numerical control programming language, and it has many variants. It is used mainly in computer-aided manufacturing to control automated machine tools. The Programming Language Database dates its creation to 1950 and records early development at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. G-code is sometimes called the G programming language, which should not be confused with the G language of LabVIEW. Related entries in the same database include the Gerber image format, punched tape and the Automatically Programmed Tool language, which fits the language into the history of machine control. Thousands of public repositories on GitHub contain G-code, and both GitHub and Pygments support syntax highlighting for it.
