Aubrey Jaffer

Software And Its Engineering

Aubrey Jaffer is a computer scientist best known for SCM, an implementation of the Scheme programming language, and for SLIB, a portable library of Scheme packages. His project pages are published at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and describe SCM as conforming to the Revised 5 Report on the Algorithmic Language Scheme and the IEEE P1178 specification, written in C and including the Hobbit Scheme-to-C compiler originally written by Tanel Tammet. SCM requires SLIB, and SCM and SLIB are both GNU packages. The Wikipedia article on GNU Guile calls SCM Aubrey Jaffer's Scheme implementation and records that the early GNU Extension Language, which became Guile, was based on it. The Programming Language Database lists him with Tom Lord and Miles Bader as a creator of Guile.
