Gary Riley is the person the Free On-line Dictionary of Computing credits with producing CLIPS, the C Language Integrated Production System, at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. The dictionary describes CLIPS as a language for developing expert systems, with the inferencing and representation capabilities of OPS5 and support for forward chaining rule-based, object-oriented and procedural programming, with a Lisp-like syntax. The CLIPS project site adds that the system was developed at Johnson Space Center from 1985 to 1996 and has been available as public domain software since 1996. The sources read name Riley only in connection with CLIPS and give no further biography, so this entry records that one contribution and nothing beyond it.
