Languages that sit very close to the machine they run on. Assembly language usually has one statement for each machine code instruction, with symbolic names for memory locations and registers, and CHIP-8 is a small interpreted language that was written for the 1802 microprocessor and used on early 8-bit microcomputers. CHIP-8 was developed by Joseph Weisbecker and was initially used on the COSMAC VIP and Telmac 1800, which were 8-bit microcomputers of the mid-1970s.
