This dimension sorts computing systems by their basic class, an operating system, a database system or an embedded system. Wikipedia notes that "other specialized classes of operating systems (special-purpose operating systems), such as embedded and real-time systems, exist for many applications." Browsing by system class keeps systems built for the same purpose grouped together.
