Roger Needham

Roger Needham was a British computer scientist and a leading figure in computer security research. With Michael Schroeder he co-developed the Needham-Schroeder family of authentication protocols in the early 1980s, which shaped much of the later theory and practice of secure network authentication, and he served for many years as head of the University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory before later leading Microsoft Research in Cambridge.
