Traffic Shaping and Medium Access

Algorithms that regulate the rate of data entering a network and the way stations share a communication channel. It covers collision avoidance methods in which a station senses the channel before it sends, and rate-limiting schemes that smooth the traffic a sender offers to a link. An entry belongs here when it controls access or flow at the level of a link. It excludes routing across a network and the design of whole protocols.
