Object-oriented languages designed to run on Microsoft's .NET and the Common Language Infrastructure, sharing its libraries and type system with other languages on the platform. VB.NET is implemented on .NET, Mono and the .NET Framework. Visual Basic .NET was launched in 2002 as the successor of the original Visual Basic, and Boo is a statically typed language that takes advantage of the infrastructure's support for Unicode and internationalization.
