SpartaDOS X

SpartaDOS X, also called SpartaDOS 4.0, is a disk operating system for Atari 8-bit computers that closely resembles MS-DOS in its command structure. It was first released in 1988 and was originally developed and marketed by ICD, Inc. between 1987 and 1993. Later versions were maintained by Fine Tooned Engineering and then by DLT, and a community-driven SpartaDOS X Upgrade Project has continued its maintenance. The system was distributed under a proprietary license and became one of the more capable third-party disk operating systems available for the Atari 8-bit line, offering a command interface and features closer to contemporary MS-DOS systems than Atari's own DOS.
