Mary Lee Berners-Lee, born Mary Lee Woods, was an English mathematician and computer scientist. She was born on 12 March 1924 and died on 29 November 2017. She worked in a team that developed programs for the Ferranti Mark 1 computer, so her place in the history of computing rests on programming work on that machine. She is also remembered as the mother of Tim Berners-Lee, who invented the World Wide Web, and of Mike Berners-Lee, an English researcher and writer on greenhouse gases. The English Wikipedia lead gives only this outline of her career and family.
