Embedded and Real-Time Systems

This group gathers pioneers of computer systems organization whose primary contribution was computing embedded inside another device or required to respond within a guaranteed time bound, including real time operating systems, cyber physical systems that couple computation to a physical process, industrial and avionics control systems, and the ubiquitous and pervasive computing research agenda that anticipated networked everyday devices. It follows the Real-time systems and Embedded systems second level headings of the ACM Computing Classification System under Computer systems organization. Their shared work is computation constrained by a physical device or a deadline, as distinct from general purpose distributed or architectural systems work.
