Jim Kajiya

Jim Kajiya is a pioneer in the field of computer graphics, best known for developing the rendering equation. He received his PhD from the University of Utah in 1979, was a professor at the California Institute of Technology from 1979 to 1994, and later worked as a researcher at Microsoft Research. In 2002 he was elected a member of the National Academy of Engineering for contributions to formal and practical methods of computer image generation. He received the ACM SIGGRAPH Steven A. Coons Award in 2011.
