Gunilla Borgefors, born in 1952 in Norrkoping, is a Swedish computer scientist specializing in image processing, known for her research on distance transforms, topological skeletonization and edge detection. She is professor emerita in the Department of Information Technology at Uppsala University, associated with its Centre for Image Analysis, after earlier posts at the Swedish Defence Research Agency and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. Her honors include fellowship of the International Association for Pattern Recognition, IEEE Fellow status, membership in the Royal Society of Sciences in Uppsala and the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences, and the Edlund Prize from the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
