Shree K. Nayar

Shree K. Nayar is an Indian American computer scientist and the T. C. Chang Professor of Computer Science at Columbia University, known for pioneering work in computational imaging and physics based computer vision. He developed the concept of computational cameras, imaging systems that combine optics, sensors and computation to capture visual information conventional cameras cannot, and co-developed the Oren-Nayar reflectance model, a description of how rough surfaces scatter light that is now widely used in commercial computer graphics software.
