Cynthia Breazeal

Cynthia Breazeal (born 1967) is an American roboticist and professor of media arts and sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she directs the Personal Robots Group at the MIT Media Lab. She is a pioneer of social robotics and human robot interaction, having developed Kismet, widely described as the world's first social robot, capable of engaging people through natural verbal, paralinguistic and nonverbal cues such as gaze, emotion and posture. She later founded the company Jibo to bring social robots into consumer homes.
