Dawson R. Engler is an American computer scientist and associate professor of computer science and electrical engineering at Stanford University. He earned degrees from the University of Arizona and MIT, completing a 1998 PhD thesis on the exokernel operating system architecture under Frans Kaashoek, and later became known for automated bug-finding tools for large software systems. He received the Mark Weiser Award in 2006 and the ACM Grace Murray Hopper Award in 2008.
