Diomidis Spinellis is a Greek computer scientist born in Athens on February 2, 1967, a professor at the Athens University of Economics and Business specializing in software engineering and computer security, with particular attention to code analysis and code quality. He earned a master's degree in software engineering and a doctorate in computer science from Imperial College London in 1994, and he is the author of influential technical books including Code Reading, Code Quality, and Effective Debugging, and a coauthor of Beautiful Architecture. He has been a longtime committer to the FreeBSD project, has served on the editorial board of IEEE Software and become its editor in chief since 2014, and won the International Obfuscated C Code Contest four times, in 1988, 1990, 1991, and 1995.
