Mitchell Kapor

Mitchell Kapor is an American entrepreneur, born November 1, 1950, best known for founding Lotus Development Corporation and creating Lotus 1-2-3, an integrated spreadsheet and graphics program released in 1983 that made Lotus the world's third-largest microcomputer software company by that year. He co-founded the Electronic Frontier Foundation in 1990 with John Perry Barlow and John Gilmore, serving as its chairman until 1994, and became founding chair of the Mozilla Foundation in 2003. Kapor founded the Kapor Center for Social Impact in 2000 and the venture firm Kapor Capital to promote diversity and inclusion in technology, and has served as a faculty member at the MIT Media Lab and the UC Berkeley School of Information. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Yale College in 1971 in an interdisciplinary major covering psychology, linguistics and computer science.
