Craig Boutilier

Craig Boutilier is a computer scientist who joined Google as a principal scientist in January 2015 after a career as professor and department chair of computer science at the University of Toronto, where he held the Canada Research Chair in Adaptive Decision Making for Intelligent Systems, and earlier as assistant and associate professor at the University of British Columbia. He earned his PhD in computer science from the University of Toronto in 1992, and his research addresses decision making under uncertainty, including preference elicitation, mechanism design, game theory, multiagent decision processes, computational advertising, and reinforcement learning. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, the Association for Computing Machinery, and the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence, and received the 2018 ACM/SIGAI Autonomous Agents Research Award.
