Michael Wooldridge (computer scientist)

Michael John Wooldridge (born August 26, 1966, in Wakefield, United Kingdom) is a professor of computer science at the University of Oxford whose main research interests are multi-agent systems, particularly the computational theory of rational action among multiple self-interested agents, drawing on computational logic, game theory and social choice theory. He has published more than 400 scientific articles over more than 30 years as an artificial intelligence researcher and wrote the leading textbook on multi-agent systems, which helped define the field. He served as president of the International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence from 2015 to 2017, president of the European Association for AI from 2014 to 2016, and president of the International Foundation for Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems from 2007 to 2009, and is a Fellow of the ACM, AAAI, EurAI, AISB and BCS.
