Austin Tate is emeritus professor of Knowledge-based Systems in the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh. From 1985 to 2019 he was Director of the Artificial Intelligence Applications Institute (AIAI) in the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh, known for his contributions to AI planning, applications of artificial intelligence, and work on collaborative systems in virtual worlds.
