Truett Thach

Truett Thach was an engineer at Bolt Beranek and Newman who helped test and install the Interface Message Processor, the specialized computer that became the ARPANET's first packet-switching node. He traveled with colleague Ben Barker to install the first IMP at UCLA in September 1969, and Barker's tribute inscription to him on the shipping crate, Do it to it, Truett, became a piece of early Internet lore. He was later director of Quality and Manufacturing Engineering at ACC Systems in Santa Barbara, California.
