Andreu Vea Baro

Andreu Vea (born 1969 in Sant Feliu de Guixols, Spain) is a Spanish telecom and electronic engineer who holds a PhD in computer networks and has served as president of the Internet Society's Spanish chapter, ISOC-ES, since founding it in 2009. He co-founded the fourth Spanish Internet service provider in 1994, and in 1998 he designed the technical system that let the telco Retevision launch its own ISP, iddeo, offering Spain's first free Internet access and, a year later, its first flat telephone rate. He promoted and presided over ESPANIX, the major Spanish Internet exchange point, and helped install two of the Internet's global DNS root servers in Madrid and Barcelona. He was a member of the advisory board of the Internet Hall of Fame in 2013.
