Louis Pouzin (born 20 April 1931) is a French computer scientist and Internet pioneer. He directed the development of the CYCLADES computer network in France in the early 1970s, which implemented a novel design for packet communication, and he was the first to implement the end-to-end principle in a wide-area network, a principle that became fundamental to the design of the Internet. His work, and that of his colleagues Hubert Zimmermann and Gerard Le Lann, was acknowledged by Vinton Cerf as a substantial contribution to the design of TCP/IP, the protocol suite used by the Internet.
