Krishan K. Sabnani (born 1954, in New Delhi, India) is an Indian-American networking researcher known for contributions to Internet infrastructure design, protocol design and wireless networks, including work separating control functions from packet forwarding in Internet routers that preceded the software-defined networking movement. He earned his undergraduate degree from IIT Delhi and a PhD in reliable multicasting from Columbia University, joined Bell Labs in 1981, and served as vice president of networking research there from 2000 to 2013 before retiring in 2017; he now teaches computer science at Johns Hopkins University. He received the IEEE W. Wallace McDowell Award and the IEEE Eric E. Sumner Award, both in 2005, and was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2021.
