Stefan Savage

Stefan Savage (born 1969) is an American computer science researcher specializing in computer security, holding the Irwin and Joan Jacobs Chair in Information and Computer Science at the University of California, San Diego. He earned an undergraduate degree from Carnegie Mellon University and a PhD from the University of Washington in 2002, and his research addresses email spam, network worms and malware propagation, distributed denial of service mitigation and traceback, automotive hacking and wireless security. He received a Sloan Research Fellowship in 2004, was named an ACM Fellow in 2010, received the SIGOPS Mark Weiser Award in 2013, the ACM Prize in Computing in 2015, a MacArthur Foundation Fellowship in 2017, the Golden Goose Award in 2021, and was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2022.
