Brendan Eich is an American programmer who created the JavaScript programming language in ten days in May 1995 while working at Netscape Communications, building it to let web pages respond to user actions directly in the browser. Despite its hurried origin, JavaScript became the standard scripting language of the web and, decades later through platforms such as Node.js, a widely used language for server side software as well. Eich later co-founded the Mozilla project and the Brave web browser.
