Andrey Nikolaevich Terekhov was a Russian mathematician and programmer, born in 1949, known for work on the ALGOL 68 programming language in the Soviet Union and for building Russia's software engineering education and industry. In 1996 he established the Software Engineering Chair at St. Petersburg State University, and he founded the software company Lanit-Tercom. He chaired the board of directors of the RUSSOFT industry association from 2004 and was a member of both the ACM and the IEEE Computer Society. He died in 2025.
