George N. Baird

Software And Its Engineering

George N. Baird is an American computer scientist who worked on computer programming languages for the United States Navy under Grace Hopper from 1967 into the 1970s, and later worked at the National Bureau of Standards. He received the ACM Grace Murray Hopper Award in 1974 for his successful development and implementation of the Navy's COBOL Compiler Validation System.
