Neil D. Jones

Neil Deaton Jones (March 22, 1941 to March 27, 2023) was an American computer scientist and professor emeritus at the University of Copenhagen. His research spanned programming languages and computation theory, with particular recognition for his work on partial evaluation and for pioneering work in data-flow analysis, control-flow analysis and termination analysis. He held academic positions at the University of Copenhagen, the University of Aarhus, the University of Kansas, Pennsylvania State University and the University of Western Ontario, and became a Danish citizen in 1991. He was made a Knight of the Order of the Dannebrog in 1998, was elected to the Academia Europaea in 1999, was named an ACM Fellow in 1998, and received the ACM SIGPLAN Programming Languages Achievement Award in 2014.
