Sophia Drossopoulou is a Greek computer scientist born in Athens, a professor of programming languages at Imperial College London whose research applies formal methods to programming languages, including a proof of the soundness of the Java programming language's type system. She earned her doctorate at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology under Gerhard Goos and Peter Deussen, and her first doctoral student was Diomidis Spinellis. She received the Dahl Nygaard Prize in 2023 for her contributions to object oriented programming research.
