Matthias Felleisen is a German-American computer science professor and author who grew up in Germany and immigrated to the United States in his twenties. He earned his PhD from Indiana University Bloomington under the direction of Daniel P. Friedman, and after fourteen years as a professor in the Computer Science Department of Rice University, he joined the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University in Boston as a Trustee Professor. He is known as the founder of PLT and for his work on operational semantics, type safety, continuations, gradual typing and A-normal form. He is an ACM Fellow and received the ACM Karl V. Karlstrom Outstanding Educator Award.
