David Heinemeier Hansson, known by his initials DHH, is a Danish programmer, writer and entrepreneur born in Copenhagen in 1979. He created Ruby on Rails, the web application framework written in Ruby that shaped a generation of web development, and later created Omarchy, a Linux installation based on Arch Linux aimed at developers; he is a partner and chief technology officer at the software firm 37signals. He has also co-written several influential books on software and work practices, including Agile Web Development with Rails, Getting Real, Rework and Remote, and received the 2006 Jolt Award for Rails 1.0.
