Manfred Broy

Manfred Broy (born 10 August 1949, in Landsberg am Lech) is a German computer scientist and professor emeritus at the Technical University of Munich. He earned his PhD in informatics there in 1980 on the transformation of programs running in parallel, and in 1983 became founding dean of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Passau. In 1989 he returned to the Technical University of Munich to succeed Friedrich L. Bauer as professor of computer science, later becoming founding dean of its own Department of Computer Science in 1992. His research on the formal modeling, specification and architecture of complex software-intensive systems produced more than 350 publications, and he received Germany's Leibniz Prize from the German Research Foundation in 1994.
