Richard H. Lathwell

Richard H. Lathwell was one of the principal implementers, with Larry Breed and Roger Moore, of the APL\360 programming language at IBM's Thomas J. Watson Research Center between 1967 and 1970, translating Kenneth E. Iverson's APL mathematical notation into a working interactive language for the IBM System/360. Lathwell, Breed and Moore received the ACM Grace Murray Hopper Award in 1973 for the design and implementation of APL\360, setting new standards in simplicity, efficiency, reliability and response time for interactive systems, and Lathwell later helped develop the first international APL standard, ISO 8485.
