Ron Cytron is an American computer scientist known for his contributions to compiler optimization theory. With Jeanne Ferrante, Barry K. Rosen, Mark N. Wegman and Kenneth Zadeck, he co-authored the 1991 paper Efficiently Computing Static Single Assignment Form and the Control Dependence Graph, published in ACM Transactions on Programming Languages and Systems, which established an efficient algorithm for converting programs into static single assignment form, a technique that became foundational to modern compiler design. He received the ACM SIGPLAN Programming Languages Achievement Award in 2006, shared with his four co-authors.
