Edward G. Coffman Jr.

Edward Grady Coffman Jr. is a computer scientist who began his career as a systems programmer at the System Development Corporation from 1958 to 1965. He earned his PhD in engineering at UCLA in 1966, held positions at Princeton University, Pennsylvania State University, Columbia University and the University of California, Santa Barbara, joined the Mathematics Center at Bell Laboratories in 1979 where he remained until his retirement as a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff twenty years later, and returned to Columbia University in 2000.
