Ken Sakamura is a Japanese computer scientist and professor who created TRON, a real time operating system architecture launched in Japan in the 1980s as an open specification rather than a single product. Operating systems built to the TRON specifications became widely used in embedded applications, including automobile engine control units, mobile phones and digital cameras, making TRON one of the most deployed operating system families in the world even though it remains little known outside Japan and outside the embedded systems field.
