David Garlan is a professor of computer science at Carnegie Mellon University noted for his contributions to software architecture. He co-authored two widely used books in the field, Software Architecture: Perspectives on an Emerging Discipline with Mary Shaw in 1996, and Documenting Software Architectures: Views and Beyond, whose second edition appeared in 2010 and 2011.
