Klara Dan von Neumann

Klara Dan von Neumann was a Hungarian-American programmer who, with no formal training in mathematics or computing, learned to write code for the MANIAC computer at Los Alamos National Laboratory in the late 1940s while working alongside her husband, mathematician John von Neumann. She developed some of the earliest working programs for numerical simulation and Monte Carlo methods used in nuclear weapons research, and she is counted among the first people ever to write software for a stored-program electronic computer.
