Frank Harary

Frank Harary was an American mathematician widely regarded as one of the founders of modern graph theory, the study of networks of points connected by lines. He standardized much of the fields terminology and extended its methods into physics, psychology, sociology and anthropology, publishing more than 800 papers with roughly 300 different collaborators over his career. His 1969 textbook Graph Theory became a standard introduction to the subject, and the graph and network theory his work helped establish underlies data structures, algorithms and network models used throughout computer science.
