Ravi Kannan (Ravindran Kannan, born March 12, 1953, in Madras, India) is an Indian theoretical computer scientist specializing in efficient algorithms for mathematical and geometric problems in computer science, machine learning and optimization. He earned a PhD from Cornell University in 1980 under Leslie Earl Trotter Jr. and has held faculty positions at Carnegie Mellon University, MIT and Yale University, where he was the William K. Lanman Jr. Professor of Computer Science, before becoming a Principal Researcher at Microsoft Research Lab India. He received the Knuth Prize in 2011 for developing influential algorithmic techniques aimed at solving long-standing computational problems, shared the Fulkerson Prize in 1991 for work on convex body volumes, and was elected an ACM Fellow in 2017 and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences.
