Elias Koutsoupias

Elias Koutsoupias is a Greek computer scientist working in algorithmic game theory, complexity theory, and the design and analysis of algorithms, currently a professor at the University of Oxford after posts at the University of California, Los Angeles and the University of Athens. He earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the National Technical University of Athens and a doctorate in computer science from the University of California, San Diego in 1994. With Christos Papadimitriou he introduced the price of anarchy, a concept measuring the inefficiency of selfish behavior in networks and games, and he has also contributed to the Ouroboros proof of stake protocol used by the Cardano blockchain. He received the Godel Prize in 2012 for his contributions to algorithmic game theory.
