Noam Nisan

Noam Nisan (born June 20, 1961) is an Israeli computer scientist and professor of computer science at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, specializing in computational complexity theory and algorithmic game theory. He earned his undergraduate degree from Hebrew University in 1984 and his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley in 1988 under Richard Karp. He shared the Godel Prize in 2012 with five others for pioneering algorithmic mechanism design, received the Knuth Prize in 2016 for contributions to communication complexity, pseudorandom number generators, interactive proofs and algorithmic game theory, the EATCS Award in 2018, and was named an ACM Fellow in the 2025 class for contributions to complexity theory and pioneering work in economics and computation.
